Secondary Education:

Students commence secondary education at about 13 years of age. They may choose to study at either a state or private school. There is a wide choice of subjects at 400 schools throughout the country. The school year, based on four terms, commences in early February and finishes in mid-December. Many international students complete the final year of secondary school in New Zealand before proceeding to tertiary study.

School uniform:

New Zealand as a former British colony, instituted a school system virtually identical to the British system. One of the first private schools in New Zealand had the grey/blue shorts as school uniform, like the British. A few years later, most schools had a Uniform.  A school uniform exist out a blazer, a school tie and a grey/blue shorts.
